- Brim: Use a low-heat iron with a clean, dry cloth between the iron and the hat, and never use steam; repeat gently until wrinkles are removed, taking care not to overheat the straw. Crown: Shape by supporting it from the inside with your hand and a cloth while lightly ironing the outside. Sweatband: Either remove and iron it flat or gently iron it in place, using only a very small amount of water if needed.
